Alexis Howells

Alexis is our Embedded Linux Developer and has been with the company for 3 years now.

Q: What first drew you to Razorsecure, and what keeps you excited about it?

A: Having worked on Linux systems for over 10 years, I was attracted to the opportunity to bring that experience to a smaller, more personal organisation where individual contributions make a real impact. What keeps me excited is tackling the ongoing challenges in building and maintaining our projects, working within a friendly, capable team.

Q: How has your role evolved since you first joined the company?

A: I've become more involved with delivery work with customers as the number of projects has grown. As the codebase has matured I've enjoyed being able to influence the direction of our platform and product development.

Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in cybersecurity?

A: Learn by doing. With Linux and virtualisation, the cost of entry for practising system and network setup security is almost zero. Set it up, tear it down, break it and make it.

Q: Who or what inspires you outside of the cybersecurity world?

A: Outside of work, I enjoy playing and listening to music. Pianists like Dr John, James Booker and Luca Sestak keep me practising!

Q: Finally, what’s something on your bucket list you still want to do?

A: I'd love to road trip with the family in our Land Rover to the Atlantic Road in Norway. They don't seem as keen on rattling around in a loud draughty vehicle for weeks on end though.
