Designing security across the train
A rolling stock architecture needs to account for the connections between systems and the work people carry out on them. Network boundaries, monitoring and maintenance access each have a different role. Defining those roles together helps teams decide where to apply controls and how to use the information those controls produce.
The webinar considers how to design an architecture across the train, combine networking with on-board monitoring, and put that approach into practice in an operator environment. It also covers the influence of cyber regulations and the management of cyber risk through the train's lifecycle.
For your own architecture review, a useful starting point is to map which systems need to communicate and who needs access to maintain them. That gives the engineering team a basis for agreeing network boundaries, identifying where monitoring is needed and assigning responsibility for reviewing the resulting evidence.
