Lauren Thompson

Lauren is our Project Manager and the newest team member.

Q: What are some of your goals as a project manager for the next year?

A: Since I’m new to the rail industry, one of my biggest goals this year is to learn as much as I can about the sector and its unique challenges. I’d like to build on my project management experience in a way that’s tailored to rail, so I can add real value to the projects I’m working on at RazorSecure. I’m also keen to contribute to building best practices for reporting, dashboards, and long-term planning.

Q: How do you collaborate with other departments to keep projects aligned with broader business goals?

A: For me, collaboration is about keeping communication open and making sure everyone understands how their work connects to the bigger picture. As I settle into my role at RazorSecure, I aim to work closely with different teams to understand their priorities and ensure project plans reflect both immediate needs and our wider business goals.

Q: Are there any hobbies or passions that influence how you lead projects?

A: I spend most of my free days outdoors (I love hiking, camping, wild swimming, the whole lot). Those experiences have definitely taught me the importance of preparation, but also patience, adaptability and remaining calm when things aren't so straightforward or when things don't go to plan. I like to think that, that balance shapes how I approach managing projects; plan well, stay flexible and keep moving forward.

Q: How do you keep your team motivated during difficult or long projects?

A: Projects can get tough at times, so I try to keep things manageable by breaking the work into clear steps and celebrating progress along the way. I also make a point of keeping communication open and checking in regularly so the team feels supported and heard.

Q: What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?

A: Every so often I get really into home preserving and become a bit obsessed with pickling, making big batches of jam, or drying heaps of herbs to blend into teas. Just last week I made jam from 4kg of wild blackberries.
